number 8
it’s an interesting fact that life revolves around the number 8. the number ‘8’ is very auspicious in many cultures Indian, Chinese, Roman, Egyptian and for many its unlucky but for some it’s the most precious number. the most sort after is usually ‘1’. you must have heard people say – I want to be no. 1 or be the best or wanting to win. if life is a zero some game where you have to win and the other person has to lose – then you missed the point completely.
being on top doesn’t mean you are the best or if you win an argument doesn’t mean you have the upper hand. a quick question – why is tennis called a gentleman’s game? you must have noticed that the winner of the game never ever bitches about his or her opponent, instead they appreciate how hard they played. I wonder when life can be like this. being materialistic has its ups and downs but at the end of the day - why do you buy a diamond necklace? in India, it would be considered an asset but the same thing in the US is about showing your status in society.
there is a common factor here: its perception. everything from what is considered ‘winning’ and what is considered ‘losing’ has always been determined by people and its quantitative. the appeal of the masses, the number of followers, the general public opinion… you name it… its all by the numbers. when you look at it, if you are small or tiny you usually win by emotion or sympathy and not by power. its like being on 2 sides of the same coin, you have both of them emotion and power but can only show only one of it and not both at the same time.
coming back to number ‘8’. its interesting to note that this number represents balance. order in a world where chaos reigns. its an revelation that the number 8 will rule and not 1. If you are agonistic, then you would argue that this is just numbers and means nothing. well, if the world was that simple… we wont believe in metaphysical activity now, would we?
the fact remains to be seen and with science advancing so fast, its just a matter of time we realize that space is infinite and earth is just a grain in a planetary beach. till then we just have to put up with all this.
