what is our pandemic?

We use the word pandemic mainly for diseases, something that affects our body. But in reality, we suffer from 2 types of illnesses (1) to the Body (2) to the Mind.

We are facing  a moral breakdown in almost biblical propositions. Terrorism based on religion, hatred based on cast, inequality based on citizenship… the list goes on. In the recent bomb blasts in Hyderabad, it made me think about the state of the world.

It might be hard on us now but this is the norm in Palestine, Somalia and Afghanistan for generations. What can we possibly say to these people who lose a loved one almost daily? There is a saying in Tamil ‘Pain can be understood only by the one who is hurt’.

Despite our best efforts in being empathetic towards other people we face a pandemic and that pandemic is the loss of our moral compass.
