Andy Grove
everyday i think about my icon and my role model for life - Andy Grove (ex chairman of Intel Corp)... i admire his personal & professional life. his early life struggle as a hungarian refugee to his commercial success as CEO of Intel, makes you energised with confidence that even i can do it.
I always remember his saying "what is nice or not nice should have no place in what you do or how you think, remember we are after what is most effective"
this attitude has got me going through hard times and also helped me come out of adversity, pain and bankruptcy... his methods are quite simple, everything can be solved mathematically (even human relationships)... i do a simple math before deciding - zero for neutral effect, minus 1 for negative effect and plus 1 for positive effect. so if the score is positive then you say yes... if not say no... if it comes zero then hold on to your decision to gather more information. please be careful and avoid falling into analysis paralysis.
i prefer doing this rather than getting caught up in other people's opinion and rely on metaphysical activity. why fear the future when the choices you make now determines them? i like to keep my life an open book, it should only have things i value most... things that makes me who i am... and things that will make people remember who i am.
funny i still use mind maps... that exercise helps me be more open and look at challenges very objectively. i can immediately set my priorities and put a timeline to it. say yes or no to options that i have on a particular event. it makes my life easier.
i know this is the first weird thing i wrote about myself. i hope you can learn from it and improve your life.
